צִבְּתָא

צִיבְּתָא, צִבְּתָאf. = צִיבָּא II, chips, twigs Sabb.139b לא ניהדק אינש צ׳וכ׳ Ar. (Ms. O. צִבָּאתָא; ed. צינייתא, read: צִיבְיָיתָא; v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 60) one must not stuff chips into the mouth of a jug (to let wine run through them). Ḥull.67a לא לשפי … בצבתאוכ׳ Ms. M. a. Ar. (ed. בצבייתא) one must not pour date-beer through chips Ib. 105b משום ציבתא (Ms. M. צִיבְוָותָא, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note) on account of the chips (floating on top). Ab. S. a. l. note) and caused twigs and leaves (covering the Succah) to drop down (v. מְצוֹבִיתָא).
